GARDENING CALENDAR – FEBRUARY

Depending on the weather this is probably the month that you will start to see new hardy plants at Sturmer Nurseries. We usually start with some tough little alpines and herbaceous/cottage garden plants. At this time of year they are available in small pots, so this is a good time to get more for your money!

Spring-flowering pansies and pot-grown bulbs like snowdrops and narcissus tête à tête are widely available now if you want to brighten up your patio. And by the end of the month we should have the first of our new shrubs for those wanting to get busy with their planting.

The bare-root season is coming to an end, so this is probably the last chance to order any field-grown plants.

National Nest Box Week also falls in February. National Nest Box Week aims to encourage everyone to put up nest boxes to promote and enhance biodiversity and conservation of our breeding birds and wildlife. National Nest Box Week gives you the chance to contribute to the conservation effort in the UK while giving you the pleasure of observing any breeding birds that you attract to your garden.

And don't forget Valentine's Day falls this month, so come to us for a card and appropriate gift!
